Jean d’Amérique
Born in Haiti in 1994, Jean D’Amérique is a poet. His work, published by Cheyne, Théâtrales, and Actes Sud—where his debut novel Soleil à coudre appeared in 2021—has been recognized with several awards, including the Montluc Résistance et Liberté Prize, the RFI Théâtre Prize, the Apollinaire Découverte Prize, and the Heredia Prize from the Académie Française. A prolific artist, he also released his first rap album in 2023, Mélancolie Gang, a poetic odyssey. For Memo Paris, the ocean inspires a powerful text where the waters carry with them the stories of humankind.
